Kall Fimbulbringer location and boss type

Kall Fimbulbringer is the eighth Forsaken, Valheim 1.0's final boss, and the endpoint of the Deep North progression chain. The fight takes place through an Aesir Passage in the Deep North, beyond the portal to the Prison. Kall is not a random overworld creature and does not use an ordinary boss vegvisir route.

The health figure and resistance table below come from community-inspected game data. The location, three-blood summon route, phases, and rewards were cross-checked against a current boss walkthrough.

How to unlock and summon Kall

  1. Clear Winding Tunnels and collect Intricate Key Moulds.
  2. Craft an Intricate Key for each Mörkhalla gate you need to open.
  3. Enter a Mörkhalla and destroy its Malicious Ice to trigger a Jotun Invasion.
  4. Travel to the invasion marker and destroy the Black Ice Core.
  5. Collect the one Malicious Blood dropped by that core.
  6. Repeat until you have three Malicious Blood.
  7. Find an Aesir Passage and offer all three at the Strange Bowl.

Each invasion supplies one blood, so every rematch requires another three completed invasions. You can leave an invasion core alive to fight more Jotun, but that delays the blood and keeps the event active.

Preparation checklist

Bring fully upgraded late-game food, healing, the Rested buff, and both fire and frost protection. Kall resists pierce, fire, frost, and lightning; spirit damage does nothing. Blunt and slash are the dependable normal damage types, so bow-only preparation creates a needlessly long fight.

Thunderblood and Frostfire melee weapons are strong current options. Community guides also report success with magic and protective or summoned support, but phase two's aspects must be damaged by players rather than delegated entirely to tames or summons.

Place the recovery route before entering the Passage. Kall regenerates while the group returns, so a long corpse run can erase progress. Every player should have spare food, resistance supplies, and a clear agreement about which phase-two target dies next.

Phase 1: learn the chain range

The opening body has 10,000 community-measured health. Kall uses long chain slams, a wide double sweep, a close whirl, and a rushing lunge. The chains reach farther than a normal melee animation suggests, so preserve stamina for one deliberate dodge instead of spending it on a full combo.

Stay outside the whirl, avoid retreating in a straight line from the rush, and punish the recovery after a committed chain attack. The purpose of this phase is to learn spacing without consuming every potion.

Phase 2: defeat all seven aspects

Kall's body becomes immune while aspects of the seven earlier Forsaken arrive in linked waves. The phase contains 12,800 total health according to inspected data. Killing one aspect advances its branch, so a group can control which pair is active rather than attacking every target evenly.

The Aspect of the Writhing Dead is weak to blunt and frost; the Living Forest and Dragon Mother aspects are weak to fire. Several others resist pierce, which is another reason not to rely on arrows. Keep open ground for the Dragon Mother's large area attack and clear hostile roots or broods before they close every escape lane.

Phase 3: movement before damage

The final body carries 30,000 community-measured health and combines stronger chain attacks with elemental damage, ground impact, spike rain, and Tendrils. Fire and frost resistance both matter here. A shield can handle one readable hit, but clustered spike impacts and the heaviest flurry are movement checks, not invitations to hold block.

When Kall chains upward, keep moving out of the incoming spike field. Destroy nearby Tendrils before the arena becomes crowded, then return to short blunt or slash punish windows. Use pillars as line-of-sight cover only when the attack permits it; do not let terrain trap the group inside chain range.

Rewards and ending step

Kall drops one Sacrificial Blood and one Crown Jewel. Return the Sacrificial Blood to the Chiselled Platform at the central Sacrificial Stones to complete the final boss chain. Unlike earlier Forsaken, Kall does not grant a conventional selectable Forsaken power.

The Crown Jewel combines with five Bloodgold at a sufficiently upgraded Black Forge to make the Crown of Valheim. The exact item stats may change in a hotfix, so verify the live crafting preview before spending endgame materials.
